Rebel botanists and a Sunday song for David Attenborough

A giant chalk drawing will be created on Plymouth Hoe this weekend while the Plymouth Climate Choir sings a 100th birthday greeting to broadcaster and natural historian Sir David Attenborough.

The "Rebel Botanists" will draw their giant birthday greeting from 8am on Sunday (April 19).

Meanwhile the choir will gather at 11am to sing the song Natural World. The event is being filmed in the hope it will be included in a global video to be presented to Attenborough on his birthday next month.

Volunteers are welcome to join the congregation.

Versions of the song are being filmed all over the world, and it is being supported by musicians Pete Townshend and Brian Eno.

Organiser Pete Wyer told The Beagle: "We aim to create a video that brings all our singers together, with each group singing a line as part of a global chorus. It's to wish Sir David a Happy 100th birthday, but it's equally about echoing his message on climate as a global community standing together."
