Residents forced out of their luxury homes by faulty lift

People living in The Azure apartments on Cliff Road have been forced to leave their luxury residences because the lift is not working.

The elevator in the eight-story Azure South is out of order for urgent maintenance, with no end to the work in sight.

And that’s forced some to go and stay elsewhere because they can’t navigate the huge flight of stairs.

An email to residents said: “There is still very little we can update you with at this stage, as we do not yet have a confirmed timescale for when the lift will be back in operation.

“As soon as we receive a confirmed date for the works and restoration of service, we will inform you. We fully appreciate how frustrating this situation is and the inconvenience it is causing. Please accept our apologies. Unfortunately, this is outside of our direct control, and we are reliant on specialist contractors to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

The Beagle has learned the drive belt for the elevator is the issue, and getting hold of a 73-metre replacement is proving tricky. Whispers in the corridors of the luxury address are also discussing a possible lack of maintenance on the lift in recent troubled times

Some residents are miffed at the lack of communication - the lift stopped working two weeks ago, on March 12, and there was no explanation until March 20.

“They knew this was going to happen. They could have warned us much sooner so people could have made arrangements before the lift was closed,” one person with inside information told The Beagle.

Going nowhere: elevator is out of order until when?
