Police appeal after "XL bully" dog attacked chihuahua, and owner "assaulted"

Police are appealing for witnesses and relevant CCTV, dash-cam or other footage following a dog attack and an assault in Millbay.

On Tuesday 3 June a woman called 999 on Millbay Road stating that her chihuahua dog had been attacked by an out-of-control XL bully type dog some time prior to 8.30pm.

Following the attack, the chihuahua ran away and was then killed when it was struck by a blue Ford Fiesta which failed to stop.

It was also reported that the owner of the XL bully type dog assaulted the chihuahua’s owner before leaving the scene.

The woman suspected of carrying out the assault, who was with a male at the time, has not yet been identified.

CCTV enquiries in the area have already been carried out, and investigating officers are now appealing to any witnesses or persons with relevant footage which may help the investigation, to call 101 or visit the police website quoting 50250140469
