The new batch-produced Plymouth Gin Honey

Plymouth Gin is launching a new honey flavour for “those wanting to explore different tastes”.

Distilled at the Black Friars distillery, the gin is made with a natural honey flavour and uses the brand’s original recipe from 1793.

Bottled at 41.2% ABV, it is described as a ‘delicate and smooth expression’ which can be enjoyed as a twist on the classic gin & tonic or in an array of luxurious cocktails, including the signature serve, Bees Knees.

Toni Ingram, global brand director for Plymouth Gin, said: “Honey has surged in popularity across many spirit categories, however, very few have taken on the challenge in gin. We have, and we are sure it will create a buzz.”

It’s due to go on sale next month.

Legend has it that whenever a new vessel was launched into the British Naval fleet, it was ‘commissioned’ with a bottle of Plymouth Gin. Today the company partners with the Ocean Conservation Trust (OCT) to support the regeneration of seagrass in the adjacent sea, through donations from the sale of specially designed limited-edition bottles.

Liquor.com describes The Bees Knees as: “a Prohibition-era cocktail featuring gin, lemon juice and honey. The drink is credited to Frank Meier, an Austrian-born bartender who plied his trade at the Hôtel Ritz Paris during the 1920s. It’s a simple extension of the classic Gin Sour (gin, lemon, sugar) that features honey instead of sugar.”
