Longest Yarn has visitors in stitches

A brilliant exhibition has just opened in the Devonport Market Hall (NOT the Guildhall, as some sources may say).  This is The Longest Yarn 2 and it runs until 28th June, writes The Captain.

Some will remember the ‘knitted D-Day’ which travelled the country last year and is now over in the USA.  This was an 80 metre knitted and crocheted storyboard of D-Day – 6th June 1944.

The second iteration is still growing – 28 dioramas so far – and portrays life in Britain from the Declaration of War on 3rd September 1939 to VE Day in 1945.  The details are just amazing – do visit – it’s free.

The only local scene: the Siege of Malta and the island’s award of the George Cross remembered in Saltash. The organisers would be delighted if a local yarnbomber group were to do Plymouth – St Andrew’s as the Garden Church?  Or Nancy Astor and a sailor dancing on The Hoe?

Do go and visit this exhibition at Devonport Market Hall until 28th June – you will be astounded at the details that can be captured in yarn.
