The Big Wheel on the Hoe is taking shape ahead of next week's British Firework Championships - and with tonight's full moon the Ocean City's centrepiece was putting on a show.

But the planning application submitted in February this year for a semi-permanent Wheel in the same position has still not been decided on by Plymouth Council.

On Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 August this year's firework championships event promises to be more spectacular than ever, as six previous winners return to compete for the title of ‘Champion of Champions’.

Fired from Mountbatten Breakwater, the shows are guaranteed to be stunning whether you are watching from the Hoe, a boat or any of the many viewing points around Plymouth Sound.

The Firing Order:

Night One – Wednesday, 13 August 2025

Night Two – Thursday, 14 August 2025

Each puts on a 10-minute display to wow the crowds with judges looking for lots of colour, high and low display co-ordination, and big bangs!

The fireworks spectacle starts after 9pm on both evenings.
