Another tree saga in Plymouth!
Plymouth Tree People were urgently asked for help when workmen cut down trees and bushes at the former Register Office site in Lockyer Street.
The plot has of course been recently sold, and an outline proposal to develop it has been submitted to Plymouth Council.
But the felling of trees during bird nesting season has upset many.
An urgent cry for help was posted on social media by STRAW - the Save the TRees Armada Way group, saying:
“Emergency! Can anyone help with a baby bird crisis at the registry office on the Hoe? Someone has cut back all the shrubs and apparently there are tiny baby birds on the floor. Can anyone help reunite them with their babies. Asap!”
It comes in the wake of the Armada Way “night of the long knives” saga, which cost Plymouth Council thousands in legal fees and extra costs.
The register office was sold at auction late in 2024 after the registration services were relocated to Derriford Business Park in 2020.
The Beagle was first to report the "pre-planning" notice of intent for how the site could look in the future - read our article here
