Albion Launches ‘Vision and Mission’ Ahead of Historic 150th Anniversary

Twenty years ago Plymouth Albion stood at the edge of top-flight rugby - securing third-place league finishes and reaching their first Twickenham cup final in 2004–05. Brickfields regularly welcomed thousands through the gates, and the club was widely admired in the rugby world.

By 2015 they were being relegated from the Championship, and within 12 months they were in administration.

But they fought back - rescued by two former players, David Venables and Bruce Priday, whose belief in Albion’s identity and potential never wavered. And since then, the club has been rebuilt and re-energised.

Now, on the eve of Albion’s 150th anniversary in 2026, they’ve announced a “bold new strategic direction” to define its next era both on and off the field, with renewed optimism and clear ambition: promotion to the newly named Champ.

Pre-season kicks off on Saturday August 16 with a warm-up at the Brickfields against Bridgend Ravens. The 2025/26 season starts for Albion on September 6 in Leeds.
